Based in Pasadena, CA, Makoto Taiko was established in 1999. Makoto Taiko performs under the instruction of Koji Nakamura, former leader of the Shumei Taiko Ensemble, and 2007 Grammy® Award-winner. Makoto Taiko strives to elevate spiritual sentiment in the performers and the audience members through playing a traditional Japanese percussion instrument known as “Taiko”. The group’s drumming serves as a bridge among different cultures and encourages global understanding that transcends language.
